Masterminds for Personal and Business Development

FullGridsLLC-withusagerights-mastermindWhen I think of masterminds for personal and business development, I will also now think of Mark Joyner. The definition of mastermind in the Collins English Dictionary is “a person of great intelligence or executive talent, especially one who directs an undertaking.” Any Thesaurus will further describe a mastermind as conceiver, originator, innovator, trailblazer, intellectual, etc.

Am I stroking Mr. Joyner? pfft…double pfft…Mark is not one who needs stroking. Not from me or anyone else. Dropping names…. :) No not really, not at all. My point for you is, if you ever have the opportunity to listen to Mr. Joyner, please do so. I’ve read much of his copy, and seen some of his videos, purchased some of his specific offerings, but his depth and insights really come out and shine in person. He is all about life, business, internet marketing, and a lot more. In the brief time Mark shared with us at John Delavera’s first (and not last) Turbo Seminar (a plug for great starter products to consider, and please do the math), I came away realizing how we all need to really pay attention to EVERYTHING that is presented to us in the broad media, be in on TV, print, or the web. Pay careful attention to what is said, not said, and its meaningfulness or meaninglessness. It will pay off indirectly for you and your business. I think many of us already knew this, but he really makes it hit home with impact.

He is blunt, down-to-earth, witty, funny, charismatic, entertaining, an intellectual, but above all, imparting to his listeners stuff that is not only about internet marketing but much, much more. Again, it’s about realism, it’s about business, and it’s about life. Who wouldn’t want to get more insights about that kind of content from a genuine mastermind.

You can help yourself by taking a look at some of his materials. It’s foundational and advanced stuff for reminding you of perhaps some stuff you might already know and realize, but a whole lot more and I mean a whole lot more, to prepare you for life, business and reality.

Did I mention I met Mark Joyner at my first ever internet marketing seminar? We exchanged handshakes while grabbing some small, quick breakfast items, spoke just a bit before he was called on-stage to speak. I haven’t washed my hands since then…….and I can only guess what Mark might say to that (only about washing the hands bit…….”yeah, buuuullsh@#$%” :) He’d be right :)

I had a phenomenal time at the seminar and met some terrific people from all over the world and the US. Regular guys and gals like you and me, and very briefly, some true Superstars from the internet marketing world, including John D. himself. And many people in-between. A special “Hi” to the little 8 year old girl I met who’s already rockin’ and rollin’ in business on the web. WOW!

For my readers, the point of all this Masterminding and Networking stuff is three-fold:

1. Never stop learning, and you can learn a great deal from attending seminars that provide great content. In this case, one of my many highlights was the morning Mastermind sessions.

2. Seminars are in fact a great way to network, whether you are starting out or in advanced stages of your business. You will be amazed at the stories and help and kinship you have with your fellow attendees. And saying hello or even getting a word in edgewise to the “big guys” IS a big thrill.

3. Have fun. This is maybe for another post, but I had one of the most fun 35 minutes over the 3 days during an early breakfast with a new friend/attendee in the food court, and it all started as a random event just because. I considered that a mini-mastermind session, or as well, a really terrific chit-chat over morning coffee.

Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance

Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance

proper-planning-prevents-poor-performanceFortunately, learning that proper planning prevents (piss) poor performance and what it seriously means in your business life, came early for me.

Over the years I’ve been involved in numerous projects ranging from project team member to project lead. During those times, I experienced a range of results from poor execution to outstanding successes. In hindsight, provided you have the correct people and resources, the one thing that I’ve always attributed to the successes was proper planning, always. Without all due consideration and detailed steps in a plan, you could always see why some things got screwed up. And after the fact, the one silver lining was what you learned from the experience. Valuable indeed.

Some Simple Advice

The simple advice for you is to, depending on the event and what’s at stake in terms of value, meaning time, dollars, or even life itself, plan accordingly and with sufficient detail to make sure everything you would like to occur, does occur. Keep it in the back of your mind…proper planning prevents piss poor performance… like a mantra until it’s just second nature. Yeah, OK, call me anal. :)

In my simplest approach, I always think and try to answer who?, what?, when?, where? and how? Sometimes why? to prioritize and evaluate a step. Then I make checklists.

With much higher stakes I go the project planning route with more elaborate tools like gantt charts. Either way, proper planning will prevent piss poor performance. Sometimes people will say you left this or that out. Often true enough. But sometimes you just have those steps in another plan sequence. It just depends on your own unique style. And since I’m far from perfect, there will be steps left out, but the more you do it the easier and better you get at it, and trust me, any plan is better than no plan at all.

Internet Marketing Seminar All Work and Some Play

As I get this site up and running, I wanted to bring to your attention the upcoming first ever TurboSeminar hosted by internet marketing legend, John Delavera.

Seminars are one of the best ways to catch up on new developments within an industry, learn new strategies and tactics that will improve your operations. Perhaps most important of all though, is to provide ample opportunities for networking with fellow professionals and like-minded individuals of all various levels of expertise wishing to grow intellectually and financially.

As online business matures, it gets tougher and tougher to stand out among billions of pages of information, all aimed at enticing you into a call to action. Marketing is the one skill that John and his cohort speakers will focus on, along with other related business-building tools, resources, and knowledge. The insight these guys and gal will bring to you will help you rise a lot out of the crowd. Which is why I’m headed out to Vegas myself!

Due to the networking aspect of these off-line events, I have found that seminars I’ve attended usually have resulted in the start or strengthening of relationships on a personal level, which may bring mutual benefits sometime in the future, either immediately or down the road sometime.

You wanna’ know how that typically happens? Just watch this video on how people at TurboSeminars do it :)

I hope you enjoyed the lighter side of possible networking with that. I thought it was kind of corny and goofy myself, (I can only imagine John a little like that upstairs after all his years on the net :) but the point is a little fun mixed in with work goes a long way. If you’re interested in more details check this other TurboSeminar page for the specifics of the seminar, the guest speakers, covered strategies and tactics and all the enticements that will realy make you think about it and hopefully act.  I’m sure Mark Joyner, Ken McArthur, Patric Chan and a few other greats will share some golden nuggets.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you there. Some random thoughts for you…Dan Lee

What is an esourcehub anyway?

What is an esourcehub anyway?

You can probably guess esourcehub is a combination of the words resource and hub, with the r dropped to be a bit clever. Pretty obvious. But there’s a little more to it.

Resources, yeah, like good tools, everyone wants them and needs them, especially if they can save you time energy and money, and moreso if they are really useful to your life or business.

Hub. The center of activity or interest or commerce or transportation; a focal point around which events revolve (from thefreedictionary.com).

The “e” in esource is a takeoff of thinking along the lines of email, ecommerce, ebook, etc where e is short for electronic. Duh. Similar to how i is used in iapps, iphone, ipad, etc where i was short for internet but also played on the shift to an “I” and personal usage mentality in recent years.

For me, and for how I’d wish you to feel about the content on this site, is to think along those lines, but also know that the e in esourcehub represents excellence, experience, education, energy, entertainment, and effectiveness. All of which I promise to keep in the back of my mind for you.

It’s not rocket science in the name, it’s just a little bit of planning and thinking about the big picture and long-term results. It’s about trying to be a little unique and being yourself in how you think about what you mean to yourself and others around you.

Hello world from eSourceHub.com!

Hello World…

You know it’s the first sample post on every wordpress blog install in the world. So, why not? …

Hello world.

Welcome to my blog and I hope you’ll find it helpful or entertaining in the long run, and if not, thanks for at least stopping by and taking a peek.

My aim is to share by background and experiences with you as they pertain to business processes and operations, while throwing in references to tools and resources that I find helpful to slowly build out an online business. It’s no secret millions of us are seeking something on the internet, for some it’s instant wealth and others it’s just the sheer joy of sharing their thoughts to whomever will listen.

I’m somewhere in between, and I’d be lying to you if I told you I wasn’t intending to monetize my efforts as well. So you’ll see some recommendations and links here and there to products or services that I truly believe in, and I may make a little bit from referrals, but the real intent is to grow something I can literally take to the bank someday for my kids.

Everything I write or say will be my opinion, and we may disagree, but as part of its nature, opinions will often be in disagreement. One thing I’ve learned in the harsh business world is that old phrase, “at least we can agree to disagree” still paves the way for an open door and hopefully never burning any bridges too badly.

Well that’s a start.

Thanks for stopping by. Some random thoughts for you…
